Much could be said about the context of this one verse, however; in the interest of brevity I am going to concentrate on the verse alone, since this one verse has sufficient context for the intent of this post.
Some find support for double-predestination in this verse. To be more specific, that God appointed certain people to “Disobedience” and therefore they reject Christ and are damned. This verse, 1 Peter 2:8 is usually a verse they use to prove their view, but does it do that? Let’s take a closer look; we will see that it actually does the opposite.
“A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense” without any hesitation we can say that the “stone of stumbling” and the “rock of offense” is Christ, since Peter in several places identifies Christ, as the Living Stone (v4), the Corner Stone (v6), the Rejected Stone (v7), and the Stumbling Stone (v8 above).
He continues to say “They stumble”, who is “they”? He has told us in verse 7 “those who are disobedient” Peter is saying that those who stumble are those who are disobedient (or unbelieving) to the word. What word? To the Word who is Christ, to the word about Christ, to the word of His Gospel, pretty simple so far, right?
Now to the crucial part, Peter says “to which they also were appointed”, we have to ask what were they appointed to? to disobedience? Let’s take another look at it “They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed” no, it was the stumbling that they were appointed to and as we have seen, this as a direct result of their disobedience (or unbelief). This verse does not allude to the idea that God appointed anyone to disobedience (or unbelief) but rather this one verse alone shows us that the specific cause for their stumbling is not God, but that “they are disobedient to the word.”
God has predestined that anyone who does not obey (disbelieve) will stumble upon the word which is Christ and receive damnation, but this as a direct result of their continued disobedience (unbelief) in the same way those who were hard of heart in the time of Isaiah (Is. 6:9,10) and not of some secret decree to damn them. God shrouds his truth to those who stubbornly disobey his word (Mt. 13:12; Amos 8:11, 12). So you see instead of helping it, this verse, when looked at carefully actually does the view of double-predestination a disservice.

Habría mucho que decir sobre el contexto de este versículo, sin embargo, en aras de la brevedad, me voy a concentrar en el versículo solo, ya que este versículo tiene un contexto suficiente para el propósito de este post.
Algunos encuentran apoyo para doble predestinación en este versículo. Para ser más específico, que Dios designó a ciertas personas a la “desobediencia”, por lo que rechazan a Cristo y están condenados. Este versículo, 1 Pedro 2:8 es generalmente un verso que utilizan para demostrar su punto de vista, pero lo hace? Echemos un vistazo más de cerca, veremos que en realidad hace lo contrario.

Vamos a echar otro vistazo “pues ellos tropiezan porque son desobedientes a la palabra, y para ello estaban también destinados” no, es al tropiezo que han sido designados, y como hemos visto, esto como resultado directo de su desobediencia (o incredulidad). Este versículo no se refiere a la idea que Dios designó a algunos a la desobediencia (o incredulidad), sino este versículo nos muestra que la causa específica de su tropiezo no es Dios, sino que su desobediencia la palabra.
Dios ha predestinado que cualquier persona que no obedece (incredulos) se tropiezen contra la palabra que es Cristo y reciban condenación, como un resultado directo de su desobediencia continuada (incredulidad) del mismo modo que aquellos duros de corazón en el tiempo de Isaías (Isaías 6:9,10) y no de un decreto secreto para condenarlos. Dios esconde su verdad a los que obstinadamente desobedecen su palabra (Mt. 13:12; Amós 8:11, 12). Así que ya vemos que en lugar de ayudar, este versículo, si se mira con cuidado en realidad le hace al punto de vista de la doble predestinación un flaco favor.
